I love what I do because I get to help people when the stakes could not be higher.

The government is powerful, but it is not infallible—and when it gets something wrong, the consequences can be devastating.

Sometimes investigators overlook a critical series of documents.

Other times, prosecutors mistake an ordinary business practice for fraud, infer criminal intent where none existed, misunderstand the governing law, or fail to appreciate facts that change the entire case.

And far too often, evidence is obtained in violation of a person’s constitutional rights.

When those things happen, someone has to recognize the problem, develop the facts, and present the full and accurate picture.

Clients call on me to use my experience, skill, and creativity to do just that: identify what the government missed, misunderstood, or got wrong, and present it through the proper channels—whether during early discussions with prosecutors, pretrial negotiations, or in court.

Many of my clients are good people who have worked hard, supported their families, and stayed on the right path their entire lives. Then, suddenly, they find themselves confronted by federal agents, subpoenas, search warrants, serious allegations, or an investigation they do not understand. They are pulled into a system that is unfamiliar, intimidating, and capable of changing the course of their lives. For people accustomed to solving problems and controlling their own affairs, the sudden loss of control can be one of the most difficult parts of the process.

My job is to stand beside them through that process, help them understand what is happening, and fight to protect them. There is no better feeling than helping a client emerge from that process with their freedom, reputation, career, or family intact.

That is why I love this work.
